A student who has earned less than 30 semester hours is classified as a Freshman with the University. More Info
Freshman must park in designated lots. These include lots P1, P2, P3, P29 and P31. All freshman lots are on-campus, do not require students exiting campus, and are no more than 1/3 of a mile from the center of the Quad. All freshman lots are less than 1/4 of a mile from the most common freshman residence halls.
Freshman parking permits carry higher fines for violations of the parking policy. Freshman students parked illegally will receive a $50 freshman violation and/or higher fines for blocking roadway access, fire lanes, handicap infractions and/or addition citations.
Freshmen who obtain a parking permit by providing falsified information, as well as upperclassmen who attempt to purchase a permit for a freshman, will have future parking privileges revoked and may face campus judicial action.
Freshman may park in resident, non-resident, or faculty/staff lots provided they have a valid DMV issued handicap placard or plate issued in their name.
UNC-A Transportation is NOT legally able to provide handicap placards. Most medical providers can assist with navigating the placard process and assess the need for accommodation.
