UNC Asheville provides Student Activity vans for field trips, athletic competitions and other student related activities.
Our fleet comprises one 12-passenger van and three 15-passenger vans.
Vans can be operated by faculty and staff IF they complete a three-hour training course and driving test. To arrange for the training, contact the Transportation Office (828) 258-7693 (Drivers with a valid CDL are exempt from the training requirement.)
Vans, with a professional driver, are rented at $20/hr + fuel used for campus departments.
Outside entities are charged $75/hr + fuel (with a 4-hour minimum, and are limited to dates when vehicles are not needed by university departments.)
Self-driving rental of vans for university activities, are charged at $45/half day, $75/ full day, or $500/week + fuel used.
To request a student activity van, use the motor pool reservation form and select 12 or 15 passenger van from the drop-down menu.
Please provide an accurate rental request time -vehicles kept for an 8-hour period will be charged the full day rate.
These vehicles are shared resources; be mindful that other departments may be requesting a vehicle on the same date. Academic rentals are prioritized.
